Found out my brand new $800 table saw blade was actually dull from the factory

Check the arbor flange for burrs (a common hidden issue with new saws).

Yeah, that's a bummer right out of the gate. I've had that happen on cheaper blades and it's annoying enough, but at that price point it's just not acceptable. First thing I'd do is take a straight edge to the blade and check if the plate is warped, sometimes they get bent in shipping. If it's true, you might have a defective carbide grind, and that's a warranty claim with the maker, not the retailer. Also, make sure your arbor is clean and the flange isn't cockeyed, a little grit there can make a new blade feel like it's cutting sideways.

Right there with you on the arbor thing. I had a brand new Freud blade once, top of the line, and it was cutting like garbage right away. Spent an hour checking the blade for warp, even sent it back to the manufacturer only for them to say it was fine. Turned out my arbor had a tiny burr from the factory (like a little metal lip I couldn't even see), and that was throwing the whole blade out of whack. A quick file job fixed everything, and it cut like a dream after that. Worth checking the flange faces too, sometimes they're not perfectly parallel and that'll mess up a pricey blade faster than anything else.
