Caught myself using nails instead of pocket screws on a cabinet face frame last Tuesday
Had a customer's shaker cabinet door start sagging after 3 months and realized I got lazy with my face frame assembly, so now I'm redoing 2 cabinets with pocket screws and wondering if anyone else has had to eat the cost on a dumb shortcut like that?

Did you ever think pocket screws were just a fancy gimmick? I used to be the same way, honestly. I figured nails were fast and good enough, but watching that door sag made me feel like an idiot. Man that's a rough one. Been there with a set of bathroom vanities I rushed through last year, used brads on the face frames and had one start pulling apart at the joint within two months. Had to tear the whole thing out and rebuild it on my own dime, which hurt worse than the original job. You're not alone in that lesson, pocket screws are one of those things that feel like overkill until they save your butt.
