Why does nobody measure the pin back before pressing 100 of them
I pressed 150 pins last week for a local band here in Austin and 30 of them had backs so loose they spun. I used the same 1 inch dies I always use, same batch of pin backs from the same bag, nothing changed on my end. I called the supplier and they said the metal gauge on this lot runs about 0.2mm thinner than the last one. So now I'm stuck wondering, do I measure every single back before I press, or do I just press and eat the loss when a batch goes bad? Measuring 150 tiny discs with calipers sounds awful but replacing a whole run sucks worse. What do you all do, trust the bag or check the stack?
