My 1 inch die slipped mid press and wrecked 8 pins, but the fix cost me nothing
Last Thursday my cheap hand press shifted on the 9th pin of a 50 pin run for a local band, shearing half the artwork crooked, so I wedged a $0.50 rubber furniture foot under the base and ran the other 41 clean, and now I'm wondering if anyone else shims their press or just buys a sturdier one.
A 50 cent furniture foot saving a whole run is wild to me, like that is the most low tech fix I have ever heard. How does a rubber foot even hold the base steady enough to keep the pins lined up, does it not squish around under pressure? Maybe it is just me but I would be way too nervous to trust that for a real job.
