DAE lose a whole Saturday to a sticky spacebar that turned out to be a 5 cent fix?
I spent about 4 hours last Saturday trying to figure out why the spacebar on my old Model M felt mushy and kept sticking halfway down. I pulled every keycap, cleaned the springs, watched three different videos on buckling spring repair, and even started looking up prices for a whole new board. Turns out the stabilizer insert had slipped just enough to rub against the housing, and bending it back took maybe 20 seconds. Four hours of my life for a piece of plastic that moved like 2 millimeters. The click was back to that perfect sharp snap after, but I sat there feeling pretty dumb. Has anyone else chased a weird click or rattle and found out it was something stupid small like that?
