Appreciation post: the ticket machine at my train station has 4 separate clicks and I never noticed
I was standing at the ticket machine at Union Station last Tuesday waiting for my card to process and it was super quiet so I actually heard the whole thing. Each button press gives you a little click, then there's a deeper clack when the card reader wakes up, and the paper ticket printer ends with this quick 3 beep pattern. I stood there for a minute after and just pressed the number pad a bunch to hear it again, probably looked like a weirdo. Turns out the machine is from 2016 and the keypad is a mechanical one, not a touchscreen, which explains why it feels so good. Does anyone know if the older transit machines use the same switch type or did they swap them out at some point?
