A guy at the arcade in Dallas said the Sanwa buttons in his Street Fighter cab have 5 million presses before they go soft
Last weekend I drove to an arcade in Dallas to play some old fighting games and got talking to the guy who fixes the cabinets. He pulled a Sanwa OBSF-30 out of a Street Fighter machine and told me they rate those switches for 5 million presses. That number floored me because I mash way harder than I thought. He said most of the ones he swaps still click fine at 3 million and the dead ones usually die from soda, not from pressing. I always assumed the click got mushy with age, not that it was a set lifespan. Now I want to know how many presses my own fight stick has logged. Has anyone here ever worn out a switch from use alone, and did you count or guess the presses?
