Unpopular opinion: my friend roasted my spacebar keycap swap and now I'm a 45g switch guy for life
So about 6 months ago I swapped keycaps on my board and my buddy Marcus just stared at it and goes "why is your spacebar higher than every other key, it looks like the board has a broken tooth." I genuinely never noticed because I'd been typing on that thing for a solid month and my thumb just adapted to the weird lift without me thinking about it. I finally measured it and the cap sat 3mm taller than the row around it, which explained why I kept missing the space bar on long docs. I moved back to a flat profile cap and dropped my switches from 67g down to 45g, and my typing speed went up around 12 words per minute in two weeks. The funny part is 67g felt "premium" to me purely because it was stiff, not because it was actually good. Anyone else get called out on a key feel and realize they were just used to it instead of liking it?
