My mouse wheel click died after 2 years and now I have to middle click with the side button, am I crazy for liking it more?
Two years ago I got a cheap Logitech mouse and the scroll wheel click stopped working last week. Instead of buying a new one I mapped middle click to the thumb side button and honestly it feels better. My hand doesn't have to move as far and I can still open links in new tabs without thinking. Now every time I use someone else's mouse the wheel click feels awkward and slow. Has anyone else switched a control to a different button and ended up preferring it over the original?

Back in 2004 I had a Microsoft Intellimouse where the wheel died, so I mapped middle click to the scroll wheel tilt (the left/right lean thing) and used that for years. The thing nobody talks about is that your thumb and index finger have totally different jobs, so moving click duty to a button that was just sitting there lets your fingers work together instead of your index finger doing double duty on the wheel. It's the same reason some people game with a thumb ball mouse, once your hand stops shifting around you get faster without even trying. The weird part is how fast your brain rewires, two years of wheel clicking erased in about a week.
