Tried blade centering on a stone vs paper, paper is way easier

I always used a stone to center my knives because that's how my mentor taught me. But last week I grabbed a strip of 150 grit wet/dry paper on a flat surface instead. I got the blade centered in about 3 minutes compared to 15 minutes fighting the stone. The paper gives way less resistance and you can feel the high spot way faster. Has anyone else found a method that cuts centering time down?

Paper is way easier" is right, sandpaper beats stone every time.
