The farmers market demo that ruined my boning knife for good

Last Saturday I did a demo at the farmers market in Tacoma, showing people how to break down a whole pig. Some kid knocked my knife off the table and it landed blade-first on the concrete, chipped the edge in three spots. I spent two hours that night on the stone trying to get it back, but the profile is just uneven now. Has anyone else had a good knife ruined by a dumb accident, or is it just me? I'm thinking about switching to a cheaper beater for demos from now on.
