Overheard a customer at the farmers market talking about 'second cuts'
I was picking up some lamb from a supplier's stall on Saturday and heard a guy ask for 'the second cut of that ribeye'. The butcher just looked confused. Later, I realized he meant the cap versus the eye, but he'd mixed up the terms. It made me think about how we explain things. Maybe I need better signs for my own case, or just ask more questions when someone seems unsure. How do you guys handle customers using the wrong words for cuts?

Yeah, that "repeat it back with the right term" trick is a lifesaver, I do the same thing.

My old boss had a rule, he'd always repeat the order back using the right term. So if someone asked for a second cut, he'd say "Sure, you want the ribeye cap, got it." It taught them the word without making them feel dumb. Clear signs definitely help, but that quick verbal correction sticks with people. You just have to do it in a way that sounds helpful, not like you're correcting their homework.
