My grinder's safety guard cracked mid-shift and I almost lost a finger
Last Tuesday around 6am I was breaking down a beef clod on my 1.5 HP grinder when the plastic safety guard just split in two and flew off. I had been running that same guard for almost 4 years without ever checking it for stress cracks. I shut the whole line down, dug out the spare guard from the back room, and now I check every guard in the shop with a flashlight before we open. Has anyone else had a guard fail on them, and do you swap them on a schedule or just wait for something like this to happen?
