Made 1000 sausage links before noon today and it got me thinking about speed vs quality

I hit 1000 links by 11am during a rush order for a local diner in St. Louis. Some days I feel like cranking them out fast matters more than getting every twist perfect, but other times I worry about consistency slipping. Which side do you lean toward when the orders pile up?

Reminds me of when I worked at a bakery that put out 500 baguettes in an hour for a jazz festival. They came out looking like sick pretzels half the time but nobody seemed to care with all the noise. Speed wins when the crowd is hungry and the sun is beating down.

Man that's what I'm talking about right there. Nobody's critiquing the angles of your baguette when they're standing in line with sweat dripping down their neck. It's like a weird unspoken agreement between the baker and the customer - just gimme something edible and we'll pretend it's perfect. I bet half those bent up baguettes got draped in napkins within ten seconds anyway.
