I finally started composting meat scraps from my shop
Our local farm now takes our meat trimmings and bones for their compost pile. It feels good to keep that waste out of the landfill and help grow food. How do you handle leftover bits in a way that's better for the planet?

Actually, composting meat scraps can cause more problems than it solves. I mean, it attracts rats and flies like crazy, which isn't great for the farm or nearby homes. Idk, maybe it's just me but the smell alone is a big turnoff. Plus, moving those scraps around uses gas and adds to pollution, so the net good might be small. Sometimes just tossing it in the trash where it gets sealed up is less bad overall. It feels good to compost, but the reality isn't always so clean.

Oh man, Paige makes a solid point about the hidden downsides. That smell from rotting meat can literally ruin a neighborhood's vibe and cause real fights between neighbors lol. And rats aren't just gross, they can spread some nasty diseases to other animals or even pets. When you add in a truck driving out to a farm, that's a lot of fuel burned just for some scraps, which kinda cancels out the good.
