Got burned on a custom sausage casing order from Michigan

Ordered 50 pounds of natural hog casings from a place I found online that promised top quality. Paid $175 for the whole lot plus shipping, thought I was getting a deal. When they showed up, half of them were split or had holes so bad they just blew out on the stuffer. Tried to use the rest but after about 20 pounds of wasted meat and seasoning, I tossed the whole batch. The seller ghosted me when I asked for a refund, wouldn't answer calls or emails. Anyone else deal with shady casing suppliers online? I'm looking for a reliable source in the Midwest if someone has one.

Did I read that right, you paid $175 for 50 pounds of casings? Man, I paid almost that much for a sad little 10-pound box that felt like I was stuffing with wet toilet paper. The seller ghosted me too, which is funny because I'm pretty sure I've never ghosted anyone harder than that casing supplier ghosted my hopes of making bratwurst. I hope you find a good Midwest source because I'm still hunting for one myself, though at this point I'm half tempted to just learn how to cure my own pig guts.

wet toilet paper" is exactly right. I used to think cheap casings were fine but not anymore.
