Ha! Your post reminds me of the time I tried to make my own casings from scratch. I thought it would be easy, but boy was I wrong. I ended up with something that looked more like a balloon animal than a sausage. The dog was thrilled, but my dinner guests were not impressed. I learned to love the magic of a good snap after that.

Honestly the casing is the least important part, it's just packaging. The real magic is in the flavor and texture of the meat itself, like paigewood's guests probably cared more about the taste than a balloon. Focusing too much on the snap means you're missing the point of a good sausage.
