Why does nobody talk about the terrible lighting in the IKEA kitchen showroom

Went to the one in Portland last weekend and every single display had those harsh LED strips that make laminate counters look like cheap plastic. How are we supposed to judge real cabinet colors under those lights?

Oh man, IKEA really wants us to think their kitchens are in some kind of dystopian future ship or something lol. Those LED strips are so cold and blue they make everything look like it's made of plastic, even the real wood stuff. How are you supposed to tell if the "Skogshult" grey is actually a nice warm tone when it looks like a hospital waiting room under those lights? I swear they do it on purpose so you buy the display model and then get home and realize the cabinets look totally different in normal daylight. It's like shopping for a used car at night, but worse. Just bring a flashlight next time I guess lol.

I read they use blue light to make the store feel bigger.

Did you catch that article last week about how stores use lighting to actually trick your brain into buying stuff? Apparently IKEA cranks up the blue LEDs because it makes people feel more awake and alert, which supposedly makes them walk around longer and grab more random junk. But yeah, trying to pick out a cabinet color under those lights is basically useless, I just end up squinting at the little wood samples by the register where the lighting is slightly more normal.
