Walked through a new apartment complex in Austin and noticed every balcony looked identical

I was visiting a friend at a brand new complex off Riverside last week, 54 units all with the same railing style and plant spacing. It made me wonder if strict HOA rules kill creative design or if they just keep things from looking like a mess. What's your take on balancing consistency with personal style in these shared spaces?

HOA rules actually prevent chaos, people don't realize how bad it can get without some basic guidelines. One wild paint color or mismatched furniture set can drag down property values for everyone in the building. Consistent design might feel boring but it protects your investment and keeps the whole place from turning into a eyesore.

Well see, I lived through a no-HOA neighborhood once and it really was a mess.
