TIL a weird trick with a 2x4 and a laser level saved my whole deck layout

I was setting posts for a small deck in my backyard and my string lines kept sagging in the wind. Got frustrated and grabbed a spare 2x4, clamped my laser level to it, and used it as a giant straight edge to mark all my post holes at once. The line was perfect, no sag, and I finished the layout in 20 minutes instead of an hour. Has anyone else used a laser level for something it wasn't really made for and had it work way better than expected?

That 2x4 trick works great. I clamp my laser level to a speed square for quick height checks too.
