Spent 3 days on a concrete countertop and I'm glad I ignored everyone who said to go with quartz
When I started remodeling my kitchen in Portland, every single person told me to just pick out a pre-made quartz slab and call it a day. They said concrete cracks, stains, and is way too much work for a diy guy like me. But I wanted something that felt heavy and real, not like a shiny plastic counter. So I built my own forms, poured the mix with some dark pigment, and spent a whole weekend sanding and sealing it. Yeah, there's a hairline crack near the sink and I already spilled red wine on it last Tuesday. But it buffed out fine and the crack just gives it character. Has anyone else gone against the grain on a build and actually liked the outcome better than the easy option?

Hell yeah, good for you. Did the same thing with my bathroom vanity last year. Poured it myself, got a couple tiny cracks, don't care one bit. Looks way better than some factory slab.

Whoa wait @rowan_thomas you poured it yourself? I mean I've done some DIY stuff but that's next level. Did you use like a bag mix or something?
