Ran 12 lines of pipe before a helper in Dallas asked why my hangers all faced the wrong way
I was running copper on a job in Dallas six months back, feeling good about my pace, and a new helper looked at my rack and asked why every hook faced the same direction when half of them should flip to meet the next run. Fifteen years and nobody had ever said that to me. I walked the whole floor and counted it out: 12 runs, every single hanger turned the same way, which meant extra elbows and about 3 hours of fiddling I never needed to do. The thing that tipped me off was him pointing at one riser where the pipe clearly wanted to roll the other direction and the hanger was fighting it the whole way. Now I lay out hangers on paper first and mark the flip points with a paint pen before I cut anything. Has anyone else had a rookie catch a layout habit you had been running for years?
