Older builders knew why you dry fit before gluing

I watched a new guy on site last week glue up a whole cabinet frame without checking the fit first. Three panels were off by a quarter inch and he had to start over. Has anyone else noticed this shortcut getting more common?

Same here, I learned that lesson the hard way when my first bookshelf ended up looking like a funhouse mirror. Now I dry fit everything twice just to be safe.

Honestly I just eyeball it and hope for the best, my bookshelf right now is basically a tilt-a-whirl with extra steps. If I measured twice and cut once I'd probably still end up with a 45 degree angle somehow. Maybe some of us are just cursed to live in crooked furniture town forever.

Honestly, "crooked furniture town" is gonna be my new neighborhood name too. Ngl, I've accepted that every shelf I build will have at least a tiny slope to remind me who's in charge.
