My neighbor's 'modern' fence has the whole block scratching their heads
Last month, my neighbor started putting up a new fence around his yard, and it's something else. He used mismatched wood scraps painted in neon green and orange stripes. The posts are all different heights, so it looks like a wavy line from the street. He told me it's a 'statement piece' about recycling, but honestly, it just hurts my eyes. Now, every time I drive home, I see people slowing down to stare at it. My cat even refuses to go near that side of the house. The local kids have started calling it the 'rainbow jail'. I kind of love how weird it is, but man, it sure stands out in our plain old suburb.

Funny how it probably works better as art than a fence since everyone stops to look at it. Makes you pay attention, even if it's just to wonder what the heck you're seeing.

Disagree with @leec18, it might draw attention but still works as a fence if it stops people from crossing. Art or not, its job is done.

Totally! Reminds me of that yarn bombing at the library last year. They wrapped the bike racks in bright crochet, and honestly, no one locked their bikes anywhere else. It was like a weird art magnet, but it also kept the racks full and organized. The colorful mess basically did the job better than a sign ever could. Sometimes the weird stuff just works.
