My garage workbench took 3 redesigns before it finally held still
Started out with a basic 2x4 frame and a plywood top last January. It wobbled so bad my drill press shook across the whole surface. Second try I added cross braces and thicker legs, still moved when I used a hand plane. Then last month I bolted the whole thing to the wall studs and put a 1.5 inch solid core door on top. Night and day difference, zero flex now. Took me about 6 hours total across all three attempts. Anyone else spend way too long fixing a simple bench before just anchoring it to the structure? I feel like that should've been step one.

Forget the wall, bolt it to the floor too and you'll never chase flex again.
