My cabinet hinge jig slipped and ruined a full door set
Last Tuesday I was drilling hinge mortises for 12 new oak cabinet doors in my shop in Columbus. I set the jig with the router bit, but the clamp loosened on the third door and it walked about 3mm off line. I didn't catch it until all 12 were bored. I had to fill the bad mortises with wood filler and redrill, which ate up about 5 hours. Has anyone built a homemade clamp stop to keep a hinge jig from shifting mid-run, or should I just spring for a more rigid commercial template? Saw the same failure happen on a buddy's job last year, so I'm not the only one.

Skip the new jig. Those clamps always slip eventually. Better to mark your hinge line with a knife and scribe before you route, then you catch drift early. Or just buy the nice template once and stop burning weekends fixing mistakes.
