Vent: the grocery outlet "discount" that wasn't a discount at all

Went to a Grocery Outlet in Tacoma last Tuesday thinking I'd score big on cereal and snacks. They had a big yellow tag on a 4-pack of pasta sauce saying "Compare at $12, our price $9." Turns out the same 4-pack was $7.50 at the regular Safeway down the street. I checked three more items on a whim and two of them were priced higher than the normal stores. Has anyone else caught these fake deals, or do I just need to do a price check on everything now?

Man, did you check the sell-by dates on that sauce, cause maybe that's why it was cheaper elsewhere...
