Our emergency fund came through when my car's transmission went out last summer on I-90
I was stuck in a parking lot in Spokane after the shop quoted me $3,200, but because we'd been putting away $150 a month for two years, I paid cash and didn't even blink, has anyone else had that relieved feeling when a big scary number just worked out because of your own planning?

Oh man, that's the best feeling in the world... seeing that quote and just nodding because you already have the cash set aside. It's like you outsmarted the universe or something, all those little $150 payments adding up to save you from a real headache. That kind of planning just makes everything else in life feel a little less scary.

Ask if it ever backfires and you end up spending that cash on something else first.
