My grocery spending hit $62 a week and I'm not sure how

I've been tracking every dollar for about five months now, and my average weekly grocery bill just dropped to $62. That's down from around $95 when I started. I think it's because I finally got serious about planning meals around what's on sale at my local Kroger, and I stopped buying snacks just because I was in the store. It's not a huge amount, but seeing that number on my spreadsheet felt like a real win. Has anyone else hit a specific weekly spending number that surprised them? How did you get there?

How long did it take you to really get the meal planning down? That's a solid drop in spending. I had a similar moment last year when I finally got my weekly number under $70. For me, the big thing was switching to store brands for almost everything and making a real list I actually stick to. It's a great feeling when you see the proof right there in your own numbers.

Store brands are a good start, but the real drop came from planning meals that actually use the same ingredients all week.

Planning around a core set of ingredients is the real game changer. It cuts down on waste and makes the whole cooking process feel less chaotic. That weekly number dropping is proof you're actually running the kitchen instead of the other way around.
