I finally cracked the grocery budget by using cash envelopes for 3 months straight

I was overspending on groceries by like $80 a week without even noticing. Tried couponing and meal planning but nothing stuck. So I pulled out $60 cash every Monday for food and that's all I had. After 3 months in Austin I'm actually saving $200 a month somehow. Has anyone else had luck with cash-only systems or did I just get lucky?

Cash envelopes changed everything for me too. I was bleeding money at the grocery store without realizing it. The physical act of handing over actual cash makes you think twice before grabbing extras. Your brain treats plastic money differently than paper money. You didn't get lucky, the system just forces you to stop and actually look at what you're spending. Keep doing it because the habit sticks after a few months.

Damn, I was such a skeptic but this actually makes total sense to me now.

Oh man, that was me too. I fought it for the longest time but then I just tried what they suggested and it clicked. Sometimes you just gotta let go and see what happens.
