Swapped my hostel bed for a 1am airport nap and saved $38 in Lisbon

I used to always book a hostel for my last night in a city, even if my flight left at 6am. Last month in Lisbon I skipped the hostel and just slept at the airport on those bench seats near gate 12. It was way less comfortable but I saved $38 and used that cash for a pasteis de nata tour the day before. The airport staff didn't even care, just keep your bag strapped to your leg. Anyone else done the overnight airport sleep thing when a place is only gonna cost you 5 hours of actual bed time?

Done the airport bench thing too many times to count, my neck still hasn't forgiven me for that one night in Madrid 😅
