Stop telling people to fly on Tuesday, it saved me $11 and cost me a whole day
I keep seeing the same tip everywhere, book on a Tuesday, and it drives me nuts because it barely does anything anymore. Two weeks ago I pulled up flights from Columbus to Denver for a Thursday in April and checked the exact same fare six days straight, including Tuesday. The price moved $11 total, and the Tuesday fare was actually the second highest of the week. What actually mattered was flying out on a Wednesday at 6am instead of Friday night, that was a $140 difference by itself. The airline pricing people figured out the Tuesday thing a long time ago, the day of the week is noise now, it's the time of day and how full the plane is that moves the number. So if you're sitting there resetting your browser every Tuesday thinking you're gaming the system, you're mostly just wasting an evening. Has anyone actually tracked their own fares and seen Tuesday come out cheaper, because I want to know if it's just my routes?
