Rant: that week in Lisbon where everything went sideways
I planned this whole cheap trip to Lisbon back in March, booked a hostel for $18 a night and thought I was being smart. Day two I get pickpocketed on the 28 tram, lost my wallet with 60 euros and my only debit card. Then the hostel lost my reservation because their system glitched and I had to sleep in a 24 hour laundromat near the Rossio square for one night. The worst part was my phone died and the only charger I could find cost 25 euros from a shady electronics shop. I finally got a new card wired to a post office but it took three days and I missed the free walking tour I was most excited about. Has anyone else had a whole trip just collapse like that and still manage to salvage any fun out of it?

Did you ever track down your wallet" - nah, I figured some kid in Lisbon was already spending that 60 euros on pasteis de nata. At least the laundromat had that weird dryer heat that almost felt like a blanket.
