PSA: I don't get why folks pay for airport lounges when this free option exists

I've always been confused by the rush to buy airport lounge passes. On my last trip, I skipped it and found a great free spot. Many airports have hidden areas with seats and wifi. In Denver, near gate B50, I relaxed for hours without spending any money. It had power outlets and was quiet too. I think more travelers should know about these options. Give it a try next time you fly!

Seriously, I do the same thing! I always check the airport map on my phone while I'm waiting at the gate. Look for gates that don't have a flight leaving soon, the seating areas there are usually empty. I've found so many quiet corners with outlets that way (it's like a little victory). The paid lounges are often just as crowded anyway, so you're not missing much.

How did you find that free spot? I always paid for lounge access, but hearing this makes me rethink it.

Honestly, I just look at the airport's own website map before I fly! Most major airports have interactive maps online that show all the seating areas and amenities. I search for "quiet seating" or "outlet seating" on their site. It's saved me so much money and stress. Another good trick is to find a less busy food court after security, they often have tons of seats and outlets too.
