My cousin swore that sleeping in the airport is a great way to save money...

I was flying out of Atlanta at 6am and she said just crash at the gate overnight. She said it would be fine. Well... I picked a spot near a pillar at gate B12. Security came by at 2am and woke me up, then a cleaning crew with a loud vacuum showed up at 3am. Then the first flight announcements at 4:30am. I got maybe an hour of bad sleep total. Has anyone actually pulled this off without some special setup?

You said she "swore" it was a great way to save money? Sounds like she just wanted you to try her little experiment. Honestly, missing a few hours of sleep isn't the end of the world. You're acting like you survived a war zone instead of just having a rough night in a terminal. Next time just pay for a hotel or deal with it.

Disagree with you on this one @robinmason. It's not just about losing a few hours of sleep, it's about the whole setup being pushed as some kind of hack when it's clearly not realistic. She told me she "swore" by it, so I trusted her. That's on me for buying in, but the experience was legitimately rough. Cold floors, bright lights, no comfortable place to sit, and then the anxiety of missing my flight because I'm trying to doze in a chair. It's not a war zone, but it's not nothing either. And suggesting "just pay for a hotel" kind of misses the point - some people actually can't afford that or are trying to avoid it for good reason.
