I finally tried the hostel kitchen hack a backpacker told me in Berlin

Met this guy from Australia at a hostel in Berlin last summer. He said cooking your own meals saves more than buying street food, which I thought was wrong because groceries seemed expensive. I spent 8 euros on pasta, sauce, and veggies at a local market, and it fed me for three dinners. Meanwhile, a single currywurst from a stand was 5 euros. Has anyone else found big savings by skipping restaurant meals while traveling?

Good call, that pasta hack really does stretch the budget.

Saw a travel vlogger break down how much cheaper hostel cooking was compared to eating out in Southeast Asia, and it was wild how fast the savings added up. That pasta math alone proves the point.
