Honestly, someone told me my 'pack light' rule was costing me money
They pointed out I was buying sunscreen and toiletries at airport prices in Barcelona, so now I bring a checked bag with basics and save about $40 a trip. Anyone else find that a little extra luggage actually cuts costs?

Yeah, it's not just toiletries either. I started packing a cheap umbrella and a basic rain jacket after getting soaked and paying triple for one near my hotel. That stuff adds up fast over a few trips.

My last trip to Seattle taught me that lesson the hard way. I keep a compact poncho in my carry-on now, it takes up almost no space. It's saved me from buying overpriced gear at least twice.
