Guy at the hostel in Barcelona showed me how to get free dinners every night
Last week I was staying at this hostel in Barcelona and this dude named Marco told me to just hit up the grocery store around 9pm and grab their marked down bakery stuff. He said most hostels have a free community dinner if you just offer to help cook or clean up after. I tried it at two different hostels and got fed for free both times without spending a dime extra. Anyone else tried the 'volunteer for dinner' trick?

Hang on, you just walked into a random hostel and they let you eat without being a guest there? I can't imagine any hostel in the US letting a stranger help with dishes and then just handing them a free plate of food.
