Blew a tire on a rental in rural Montana and the spare was flat too
Was driving through the middle of nowhere near Helena when my rental's tire shredded, popped the trunk, and the donut was completely flat. Had to call a tow truck that cost me $180 cash because the rental agency's roadside assistance didn't work out there. Anybody else had a rental car spare fail on them in a remote spot?

Man that's a nightmare and $180 cash is brutal. Did you check the spare yourself before you hit the road or was it hidden under a cover in the trunk? Seems like rental companies NEVER check those things and they just leave you stranded.

Buddy of mine rented a car last summer and the spare was literally just a deflated donut in the bottom of the trunk. Had to use it on a Sunday in the middle of nowhere and the gas station air pump barely worked.
