Used to throw away veggie scraps and now I keep a bag in the freezer for broth.
Switched about 4 months ago when my neighbor said she saved $300 a year doing it - has anyone else noticed a huge savings with homemade stock vs. buying boxes at the store?

Easily saves me $20+ a month, plus it tastes way better than store bought.

Wait, do you really save that much every month? @ericjackson I’m curious how you figure that. For me it’s more like $30-40 because I can get bulk beans online. Plus the quality difference is huge. Store bought goes stale so fast. Makes me never want to go back. Even my wife noticed the morning coffee is way smoother now.

The "store bought goes stale so fast" hit home. I've been doing the frozen veggie scrap bag for about a year now and you're right, the quality difference alone makes it worth it. Nothing worse than opening a carton of broth that smells like cardboard and disappointment.
