The week I tried to eat on $20 and ended up spending $50 anyway
Last month I decided to prove everyone wrong about the $20 a week challenge. I figured I could do it with just rice, beans, and frozen veggies from Aldi. By Wednesday I was so sick of plain rice I grabbed a $4 jar of salsa and some tortillas. Then Friday hit and I caved on a $12 rotisserie chicken and a six pack. Has anyone else found that these super low budget plans just set you up to overspend later?

Did your buddy try that too? My friend Mike swore he could do $30 a week and by day four he was ordering pizza because he couldn't stand another bowl of lentils.

The whole $30 a week thing never works long term because we always forget that we're human, you know? Like we plan for discipline but not for the Wednesday night where you just need something that isn't beans and rice. It's the same pattern with those "I'm gonna save money by eating out less" pledges - works great until your willpower crumbles under a full work week.
