The week I stopped buying pre-chopped veggies saved me $40
I used to grab those bags of pre-chopped onions and peppers at the grocery store out of pure laziness. After a busy week at work I looked at my receipt and saw I spent almost $20 extra just on convenience veggies. So I decided to try buying whole onions, bell peppers, and carrots for a whole week. I spent maybe an extra 15 minutes on Sunday chopping everything up and storing it in containers. By Friday I had saved $40 and my meals tasted way fresher. The pre-chopped stuff always went bad in like 2 days too, but whole veggies lasted all week. Has anyone else noticed how much they mark up those convenience packs?

Yeah forty bucks is a lot for sure. I actually saw a news article online that said grocery stores mark up pre-chopped stuff by like 30 to 50 percent sometimes. It's mostly for the packaging and labor I guess. But yeah, the freshness thing is what got me too. I tried buying a bag of pre-chopped onions once and they were already turning brown the next day. Whole onions just sit in my pantry for weeks. And you can chop up a whole batch on a Sunday and it's basically the same effort. Plus you get better control over how big or small you want your pieces. Really is a no brainer when you add it all up.

Wait $40?? That's actually insane. I figured it would be like $10-15 extra, but forty bucks just for someone else to chop your onions? That's wild lol.
