Showerthought: my grocery bill dropped from $190 to $112 a week after I started shopping the markdown rack at 7am
Same store, same list, just hitting the discount meat and produce before the morning crowd gets it, has anyone else figured out the best time at their local spot?

The 7am thing works but you gotta know which days the trucks come in. At my Kroger it's Tuesday and Friday mornings, so Wednesday and Saturday are dead for markdowns. Also check the back of the meat case, not just the front rack, they stash the 50% off stuff behind the regular price packages sometimes. Produce is hit or miss though, half the time the markdown bananas are already brown.
