My uncle swore by adding a can of beans to stretch any meal, and I finally tried it.
He told me this years ago, but I thought it would ruin the flavor. Last month, I added a can of black beans to a pot of chili that was supposed to feed four. It fed six easily, and honestly, it was better. The beans soaked up the spices and made it heartier. Anyone have other cheap ingredients that bulk things up without tasting cheap?

Your uncle was a smart man. I do the same thing with a bag of frozen mixed veggies in any pasta sauce or soup. It adds volume and you get some extra vitamins for like a dollar.
