I thought canned beans were boring until a camping trip last fall

We were at a state park in Michigan and I forgot to pack enough food for our last day. All I had left was a can of black beans, some rice, and a lime. I mixed them together in a pot over the fire with a little salt and pepper. It cost maybe $1.50 total and it was honestly one of the best meals of the trip. Now I keep a few cans in my pantry at all times for a quick, cheap dinner base. What are your favorite simple things to add to plain beans to make them better?
