I stopped buying pre-made spice blends and my grocery bill dropped $12 a week

About 6 months ago I noticed I was grabbing those little packets for taco seasoning, chili powder mixes, and curry blends without thinking about it. At $2 to $3 each, they added up fast. One day I added up the cost on a receipt and realized I was spending around $12 a week just on those packets. So I switched to buying the individual spices in bulk, like cumin, paprika, and oregano, and now I mix my own at home. It took maybe 20 minutes to learn the basic ratios and honestly the food tastes less salty too. Has anyone else made this swap and found a favorite recipe that uses a lot of one spice? I'm always looking for ways to use up my bigger jars.

My buddy Mike tried this exact thing and ended up with a whole shelf of cumin he's still trying to burn through, so now every meal he makes tastes like a taco truck exploded.
