I always thought canned beans were just as good as dried... until last Tuesday
I've been team canned beans for years because they're so convenient. But I tried cooking dried pintos from the bulk bin at WinCo for the first time, and honestly the texture was way better. They cost about $1.20 a pound instead of $1.80 for canned, so I'm probably switching. Anyone else notice a big difference or am I just imagining it?

My WinCo had a sale on dried pintos last month. 68 cents a pound. I grabbed 5 pounds. The texture difference is real. Canned beans get that mushy, almost slimy feel sometimes. Dried beans hold their shape way better after cooking. I soak mine overnight and they're done in an hour on the stove. The broth gets thick and rich too. Canned bean liquid is just salty water.

Right?? I did the same thing when my local store had them for 69 cents. I usually toss a bay leaf in the pot while they cook, gives em a nice little flavor boost without any extra work.
