Had to pick between bulk rice and bulk beans last week at Aldi
I only had $15 left for the week and needed a base for meals. Got a 10 pound bag of rice for $6 but then the beans were $8 for a big bag. I went with the rice because it stretches further with broth and frozen veggies. Now I'm eating rice bowls for lunch and dinner and honestly they are fine but I miss the protein. Anyone else have to make a choice like this and regret it later?

That $6 rice bag is basically feeding you for two weeks if you're smart with it. I've noticed how grocery stores always put the cheap staples on the bottom shelf so you have to bend down for them, while the expensive processed stuff is right at eye level. It's like they know exactly how much pressure we're under when we walk in with a tiny budget. I did the same thing last month with oatmeal versus eggs and by day four I was craving protein so bad I ended up eating a can of tuna I'd been saving for emergencies.
