Appreciation post: Rice and beans never get old

I make rice and beans most nights. It costs almost nothing and fills me up. How do you add variety without extra cash?

Always thought rice and beans were just cheap filler. Trying different canned tomatoes or a pinch of smoked paprika changed my mind. Those small switches keep it interesting without costing much.

Swapping spices just puts lipstick on a pig. You're still eating mush from a can, and no amount of paprika hides that. It's the definition of boring cheap food no matter how you dress it up. The texture alone makes it a last resort meal.

Try using dried beans instead of canned ones. The texture is way better and they're even cheaper.
