The batch of mortar I mixed Friday in the rain set up on me in 20 minutes
I was laying the last course on a garage wall in Salem and the mix went stiff way too fast on me. Lost maybe half a wheelbarrow of mud and had to chip a few bricks back off because they wouldn't level. Temps were in the low 50s with drizzle so I figured I had more time, but the sand was damp and I think I dumped too much water in trying to loosen it. Anyone else get burned mixing in wet weather, and do you just add a splash of water as you go or start with smaller batches?
